Chapter 1

Changed Rules:
What is New Society Young People Are Facing?

After the bubble economy collapsed, the term of "Employment Ice Age
Generation" has been largely used across the nation from early 1990s to
mid-1990s. I define generations after the Ice Age Generation including the
Ice Age Generation as "Young People" in this text.

Japan economy recovered in around 2000 (though I can't feel it as true
recovery), and job ads for new graduates seems to have been good until
around 2007. However, the generations after the Ice Age Generation are
included in the "Young People" in this text.

Because almost all people after the "Employment Ice Age Generation" also
have been supposed to live in the same social structures as the "Ice Age
Generation".

Yes, the structures are a "New Society" and a large number of young people
are facing.

A variety of problems (such as job-hoppers, NEET, declining birthrate,
irregular employment, helplessness, quitting company within 3 years,
depression, social withdrawal, Internet cafe refugees, etc.) are taking
place because environments of the new society are totally different from
past environments that past generations faced.

I think that the period when the new society appeared is same as the period
when "Young People" begun to increase. That is, it's started since the early
1990s after the bubble collapsed.

In this chapter, I will discuss matters which the young people have faced
(are facing or will face in the coming future) from various perspectives.
