To work in Japan is NOT EASY
- For Indonesians and Philippines in Care and Nurse Fields

2010/11/30

Some people from Indonesia or Philippine may consider working in Japan using a
business system provided by Japan government as a care person or nurse. However,
things are not so easy.

Here is the rough summary of the article which reports it:

Jobs for Care People and Nurses Decreased by Half- Recession and Exam, etc

Based on EPA (Economic Partnership Agreement), Japan has been trying to accept
candidates of care worker and nurse from Indonesia and Philippine as a business,
but the number of care facilities and hospitals which want to hire them next year
decreased and the number of job became a half of that of this year.

The number of people who were hired decreased by around 70% in just two years.

The reasons for the decrease were that Japanese employment expanded in the care
field under this recession and cost for Japanese trainings for the candidates who
do not have enough Japanese language skill was very heavy.

In addition, the candidates for care person and nurse have to pass a national
exam in Japan to continue to work in Japan, but the pass rate was just 1.2% which
was extremely low.

The system has been deadlock and some improvements have to be done.

Of course, for those who are really competent and have strong passion to work in Japan,
this news can be ignored. However, if you try to work in Japan, you may need to reconsider
it under this terrible economy although Japan seems to need to increase workers from foreign
countries from now on, but those candidates must have very strong skills to survive in Japan.
